II          The Sins – vs. 2-4

 

- DRUNKENNESS

 

- DEBAUCHERY

 

- DESECRATION of Gods vessels

 

- DISHONORING God’s Name

 

III        The Surprise – vs. 5-6

 

IV        The Shock – vs. 24-28

 

            - What was the bottom line with Belshazzar’s actions and words?

 

“ The God in whose hand are your lifebreath and your ways, you have not glorified.”  5: 23

 

V         The Sovereignty of God

 

            Let’s welcome the OMNI ’s

 

            * Omnipresent – God is present EVERYWHERE at once

 

            * Omnipotent – God is ALL powerful

 

            * Omniscient – God knows EVERYTHING

 

               Nothing is news to God!!

 

A.     What did that mean back then?

 

Every detail of Babylon’s fall to the Meades and Persians was prophesied beforehand and was exactly fulfilled.

 

            * Attacked from the north – Jeremiah 50: 1-3. 51: 11, 28-29

 

            * Attacked during a drunken party – Jeremiah 51: 57

 

            * Getting into the city by diverting the Euphrates River – Jer 51: 36-37

B. What do God’s OMNI ‘s mean for us today?

 

* Psalm 139: 1-4 -   O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.

 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.

 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.  4 Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.

 

            God knows:      * You and Me

 

                                    * Our PAST, present and future

 

                                    * Our thoughts

 

                                    * What we SAY

 

C. Psalm 139:5 - You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your

                             Hand upon me.

 

                        * God knows what we NEED

 

This means that we must really matter to God!

 

            * He knows our SINS

 

            * He knows our SCARS

 

* God does not watch from a distance

 

*   He KNOWS and He CARES

 

Psalm 56: 8 – “ You have collected all my tears and preserved them in your bottle.  You have recorded every one in your book

 

The Omniscience of God is totally and completely matched by His

 

COMPASSION and PROTECTION .

 

And, God also knows our Acts of SERVICE. 

 

Our good deeds don’t make God love us more ( He already loves us perfectly and completely ), but God does celebrate our good deeds, even when they go unnoticed by others.

 

We can endure, achieve, have a supernatural peace if we know:

 

GOD IS WALKING BY OUR SIDE

 

GOD KNOWS AND GOD CARES!
