THE BIG FALL

5 things about God to be eternally thankful for:

I           PROVISION

-         Genesis 2: 16, 17  - The LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die."

How can restrictions be provisions?  This was God’s provision for a personal

relationship with mankind based on LOVE and TRUST.

II          PRESENCE

-         Genesis 3: 6-8 – When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.  8 They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

God is a SEEKING God

III        PUNISHMENT

-         Genesis 3:19 - By the sweat of your face you will eat bread, till you return to the ground , because from it you were taken,  for you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

This action was designed by God to make Adam and Eve realize the

SERIOUSNESS of sin and their HELPLESSNESS

to save themselves.

IV        PROMISE

-         Genesis 3:15 – “ He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise him on the heel.” – A reference to CHRIST

V         PROTECTION

- Genesis 3:21 - The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife, and clothed them.

How can we, today, turn THANKSGIVING into THANKSLIVING?

1.      REFRAIN FROM JUDGING OTHERS

–        I Corinthians 4:5 -Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God.

2.      REMEMBER THE LORD’S TABLE

-         I Corinthians 11:26 - For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.

3.      RELATE TO ONE ANOTHER IN FORGIVENESS AND LOVE

- Ephesians 4: 32 - Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

4. RECOMMIT OURSELVES TO MINISTRY

- I Thessalonians 5: 9,11 - For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, - 11Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.

5. REFUSE TO NEGLECT CHURCH

- Hebrews 10: 25 - not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

6. REMAIN STEADFAST

- James 5:8 - You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near.

7. REACH THE LOST FOR CHRIST

“ snatch others from the fire and save them.” – Jude 23
