Ruth 1:16 -  But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.

B.         A Heritage of FAITHFULNESS

The relationship of Naomi and Ruth is Developed, Deepened and

DESIGNED by God as an encouragement to us.

As we consider Ruth, we discover that the qualities she showed as both daughter and mother are the same qualities of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31.

1.         DEVOTED to her family – Ruth 2:11 – “All that you have done for your mother-in-law after the death of your husband has been fully reported to me.” Proverbs 31: 10-12, 23

2.         DRESSED with care – Ruth 3:3 – “Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes.  Proverbs 31: 22,25

3.         DILIGENT in her work – Ruth 2:2 – “Please let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain.” Proverbs 31: 13-27

4.         DISCREET with men – Ruth 3: 6-13 – Proverbs 31: 11,12,23

5.         DEDICATED to godly speech – Ruth 2:13 –

“ you have comforted me and indeed have spoken kindly to me.”  Proverbs 31:26

6.         DEPENDENT on God – Ruth 2:12 – “the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to seek refuge.”  Proverbs 31: 25, 30
