The above 3 scenes of Palm Sunday capture Jesus in 3 different lights.
Each has application to us today:
1. Jesus is a model of PERSEVERANCE
Faithfulness is revealed in: Continuing strong –
II Corinthians 4: 7-10
7But we have this treasure in
earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God
and not from ourselves; 8 we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed;
perplexed, but not despairing; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but
not destroyed; 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that
the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
Finishing Well –
I Timothy 4: 6-8
6 For I
am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure
has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have
kept the faith; 8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that
day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
How faithful are you and I?
2. Robert Lewis Stevenson said: “the cruelest lies are often told in silence.”
Standing up for the truth can be the most spiritual and COURAGEOUS thing we do.
3. Where had the priesthood gone wrong? When did its devotion go stale?
READ - Revelation 2: 1-4
1 "To the angel
of the church in Ephesus write: The One who holds the seven stars in His right
hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands,
says this: 2 'I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you
cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves
apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false; 3 and you have
perseverance and have endured for My name's sake, and have not grown weary. 4 'But
I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
