IS LIFE A GAME IN WHICH THE RULES

ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING?

I PLAN - “You shall not commit adultery.” Exodus 20:14

Sexual intimacy outside the bonds of marriage is wrong, even if between consenting adults. Exodus 20:14 specifically mentions adultery, but the commandment includes the sexual sins prohibited elsewhere in Scripture ( Lev. 18; Romans 1: 18-32; I Cor. 6: 9-20;

Eph. 5: 1-14 ) God invented sex and has every right to tell us how to use it properly. Unfortunately, society today not only smiles at sexual sin, it actually approves and encourages it. Perversions which would have shocked 30 years ago are now openly discussed and flaunted.

II PRICE

a. Sexual sin is eventually DISAPPOINTMENT - Prov. 5

- experience goes from sweetness to bitterness – vs. 1-6

- from gain to loss – vs. 2-14

- from purity to pollution – vs. 15-20

- from freedom to bondage – vs. 15-23

b. Sexual sin is gradually DEPLETING - Prov. 6

- depletes our dependence on God’s word – vs. 20-24

- depletes enjoyment – vs. 27-31

- depletes good sense – vs. 32

- depletes peace – vs. 33-35

III PONDER - Why did the writer go wrong?

- He did not trust in the PROTECTION of the Lord Deut. 17: 16

- He did not trust in the PROMISE of the Lord I Chron. 22: 9

- He did not trust in the PROVISION of the Lord I Kings 11:3
